- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef or sausage
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook Noodles: Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook Meat Mixture: In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, sautéing until translucent. Add ground beef or sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add Sauce and Seasoning: Mix in marinara sauce, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, the Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well until smooth.
- Assemble Lasagna: In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Place a layer of noodles on top. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture, followed by meat sauce. Repeat layers, ending with noodles and meat sauce.
- Top with Cheese: Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Cool and Serve: Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
