Description

Delicious cheesy stuffed bread filled with ground beef, marinara, and pepperoni for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of Italian or French bread
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the top third off the loaf of bread and scoop out the interior, leaving about 1/2 inch of bread on the sides and bottom to create a bowl.

  2. Cook the Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  3. Assemble the Stuffing: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix until well combined.

  4. Stuff the Bread: Fill the hollowed bread with half of the meat mixture. Add a layer of pepperoni slices. Fill with the remaining meat mixture and top with more mozzarella cheese.

  5. Bake: Place the filled bread on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use a serrated knife to carefully hollow out the bread to avoid tearing.
  • Feel free to add other favorite pizza toppings, such as olives or bell peppers, for extra flavor.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the bread with olive oil before baking.
  • Adjust the seasoning to taste; you can add a bit of crushed red pepper for a spicy kick.
