Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then mix in the vanilla extract until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well blended.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the rolled oats until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Mix in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and optional nuts until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  8. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop generous portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  9. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
