Carne Asada Marinade

Description

This carne asada marinade is perfect for grilling and adds a delicious flavor to your steak. Enjoy it in tacos, burritos, or on its own!


Ingredients

  • 24 pounds carne asada
  • 3 tablespoons adobo sauce (from canned chipotle peppers in adobo)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (or about 2 limes)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil
  • 1/2 cup cilantro (finely chopped)
  • 5 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 medium lime (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large ziploc bag, combine the adobo sauce, lime juice, avocado oil, brown sugar, finely chopped cilantro, minced garlic, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix and then add the meat. Marinate for about 30 minutes.
  2. Once ready to cook, heat a large nonstick saucepan or cast iron pan over medium high heat. Add the avocado oil, then remove the meat from the marinade and add to the pan. For medium rare, sear for about 2-3 minutes per side, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  3. Once cooked, transfer the carne asada to a plate and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing, tossing with any juices, and serving on tacos, nachos, burritos, fries, and more. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Marinating the meat longer will intensify the flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of adobo sauce according to your spice preference.
  • This marinade also works well with chicken or pork.
