Description

Delicious candy-coated apples perfect for celebrations or treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or any firm variety)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • Yellow food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Multi-colored candy decorations (sprinkles, small candies)
  • Colored candy melts (blue and pink)
  • Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
  • Wax paper for setting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly to remove any wax coating. Insert a lollipop stick into the top of each apple.
  2. Make the Candy Coating: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Use a candy thermometer to cook the mixture until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). Remove from heat and stir in the yellow food coloring and vanilla extract quickly.
  3. Coat the Apples: Dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, swirling to evenly coat. Allow excess to drip off and set apples on wax paper to harden.
  4. Decorate the Apples: Melt the colored candy melts according to package instructions. Drizzle the melted candy over the set candy apples. Immediately add multi-colored sprinkles and small candies to the top for decoration before the drizzle sets.
  5. Set the Apples: Allow the decorated apples to sit at room temperature until fully set.

Notes

  • Be cautious while handling the hot candy mixture to avoid burns.
  • For a playful touch, use different colored candy coatings and decorations.
  • Ensure the candy coating starts to harden before adding decorations for best adhesion.
  • Store in a cool, dry place to maintain consistency and prevent melting.
