Description
A delicious tart filled with caramelized apples and cream cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet pre-made puff pastry
- 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg yolk, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). - Prepare the Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to fit a tart pan. Transfer the pastry to a tart pan, trimming any excess over the edges. - Mix the Cream Cheese Filling:
In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Spread the mixture evenly over the bottom of the tart crust. - Arrange the Apples:
Layer the thinly sliced apples over the cream cheese mixture in a circular pattern. Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle cinnamon on top. - Apply Egg Wash:
Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg yolk for a golden finish. - Bake the Tart:
Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and crispy. - Finish with Butter:
Remove the tart from the oven and immediately brush the melted butter over the apples for a glossy finish. - Cool and Serve:
Let the tart cool in the pan for a few minutes. Transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider sprinkling some finely chopped walnuts or almonds over the apples before baking.
- To prevent the tart from becoming soggy, ensure the apples are dry before arranging them on the pastry.
- Experiment with different types of apples for varying flavors and textures.
