Description
A simple and delicious garlic butter broccoli recipe made in the microwave.
Ingredients
Scale
- 9 ounces broccoli florets (about 4 cups)
- ¼ cup water
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon grated parmesan (plus more for topping)
- ¼ teaspoon oregano
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- If the broccoli florets are very large, cut them into smaller florets.
- Place the broccoli florets in a large microwave-safe bowl. Pour the water over the broccoli. Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe plate. It should cover the entire top of the bowl.
- Place the bowl into the microwave and microwave for 3 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to stir the broccoli and cook for 1 more minute. The broccoli should be tender yet firm, not mushy.
- Remove the broccoli from the microwave and remove the plate from the top.
- In a medium bowl, combine the unsalted butter and minced garlic. Microwave until the butter is hot and melted, but not overflowing, about 1 minute.
- Add the kosher salt, oregano, lemon juice, and grated parmesan to the melted butter.
- Drain any excess liquid from the broccoli. Add the melted butter mixture and stir to coat. Serve with a sprinkle of grated parmesan and kosher salt.
Notes
- For an even richer flavor, add more grated parmesan on top before serving.
