Description

Delicious spicy beef sandwiches with melted cheese and fresh toppings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced white onion
  • 1 small jalapeño, diced
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 2 sandwich rolls
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and hot sauce until smooth. Chill in the fridge.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and jalapeño; sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and break it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, 6–8 minutes. Stir in taco seasoning and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Shape beef into two piles in the pan. Place 3 slices of cheese on each pile. Cover and let cheese melt, about 1 minute. Chop beef and cheese together roughly in the pan.
  5. Toast sandwich rolls cut-side down in a clean skillet until golden. Spread spicy mayo on both sides.
  6. Divide beef mixture between the rolls. Top with tomato slices and shredded lettuce. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the spice level by using more or less jalapeño.
  • These sandwiches can be served with additional toppings like avocado or pickles.
