Description

A delicious and hearty savory cheesy beef pie that combines ground beef, cheeses, and herbs all in a flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until onion is translucent. Add ground beef, cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, salt, pepper, oregano, and thyme. Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth while stirring. Simmer until mixture thickens.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Place the pie crust in a pie dish. Spoon the beef mixture into the crust. Top with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake: Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  5. Serve: Let the pie cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of red wine while cooking the beef.
  • Ensure the flour is fully incorporated to avoid lumps in the gravy.
  • Cover the pie loosely with foil if the cheese browns too quickly.
  • Experiment with adding vegetables like carrots or peas for extra nutrition.
