Description

These chewy chocolate chip cookies are a classic treat that are guaranteed to be a hit!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter Begin by melting the butter and letting it cool slightly. This helps ensure a moist, chewy cookie instead of a cakey one.
  2. Mix the sugars and butter In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy. This combination gives the cookies their signature chew.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. The mixture should be creamy and light in color.
  4. Combine dry ingredients In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture using a spatula or mixer on low. Be careful not to overmix—just until combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips Add the chocolate chips and stir until evenly distributed. You’ll notice the dough getting thick and irresistible.
  6. Chill the dough (optional but recommended) For the chewiest results, cover the dough and chill for at least 1 hour. If you have time, overnight is even better. This helps the flavors meld and prevents excessive spreading.
  7. Bake Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop 2-tablespoon portions of dough and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are golden and the centers still look slightly underbaked.
  8. Let cool (or not) Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Or, sneak one while it’s warm and melty inside. No judgment here.

Notes

  • For best results, chill the dough for a longer time.
  • Don’t overbake to maintain the chewiness.
