Description
Delicious layers of shortbread, caramel, and chocolate make these bars a perfect treat for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tsp vegetable oil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Press dough into prepared pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in sugar. Slowly add cream and bring to a gentle boil. Stir in vanilla.
- Pour caramel over cooled shortbread. Let set for 1–2 hours.
- Melt chocolate chips and oil if using. Spread over set caramel. Cool completely.
- Slice into bars and serve. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of sea salt on top of the chocolate layer.
