Description
Deliciously light and fluffy popovers topped with a sweet cinnamon glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for glaze)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a muffin pan inside to heat.
- Prepare Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk and eggs until well combined. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
- Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Bake Popovers: Remove the hot muffin pan from the oven and grease with butter or non-stick spray. Quickly pour the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about halfway. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the batter. Bake for 15 minutes at 450°F (230°C), then reduce the heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle the glaze over the warm popovers. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the muffin pan is hot before adding the batter to help the popovers rise properly.
- Do not open the oven door while baking, especially during the first 15 minutes, to prevent the popovers from collapsing.
- Experiment with adding nuts or dried fruit for extra texture and flavor.
