- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the Onion Rings:
- Separate the onions into rings.
- Place a piece of mozzarella cheese between two onion rings of similar size, pressing to hold together.
- Setup Breading Station:
- In one bowl, place the flour.
- In a second bowl, place the beaten eggs.
- In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Bread the Rings:
- Dredge each cheese-stuffed onion ring in flour, shaking off excess.
- Dip the ring into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is well coated.
- Finally, coat the ring with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure it sticks.
- Fry the Rings:
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Once hot, fry the rings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot before adding the rings, or they may become greasy.
- For extra flavor, try adding herbs like oregano or basil to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Allow the rings to rest for a minute before serving to help the cheese set slightly.
